Intro to Figure Skating

The Intro to Figure Skating program is a beginner-level class designed to introduce skaters, ages 5-18, to the foundational skills of figure skating in a supportive and structured environment.

Practices will take place at the Lakes Ice Arena.

Practices

Practice Groups by Age

Sundays – Youth Group (Ages 5–12)

  • Time: 5:15 – 6:45 PM
  • Sessions: 2 sessions

Wednesdays – High School Group (Ages 13–18)

  • Time: 6:15-7:00


Cost

The cost for the Intro to Figure Skating program for the 2026 Winter Season is $25.


*As the program develops, we anticipate costs to increase to support program needs.

Extra Costs

There are no extra necessary costs beyond registration.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need my own skates?

The Lakes Ice Arena has a limited supply of figure skates available to use during practices. Having your own figure skates is recommended.


What other equipment do I need?

No other physical equipment is needed, but please dress warmly and bring finger gloves.


When will the program start and end?

The Intro to Figure Skating program will run from January to the beginning of March.


What is the cost?

The cost of the Intro to Figure Skating Program is $25.


Will there be a recital?

For the first year of the program, our main focus will be on building a strong foundation and developing skills. As the program grows in future years, we plan to introduce a recital to showcase what our skaters have learned.


Do I have to fundraise?

For year one of the program, there will be no fundraising requirements.


Will there be a clothing order?

TBD. There has been interest in a clothing order. More information to come soon.


What will be taught during the program?

The Intro to Figure Skating program is designed to teach skaters entry-level jumps, spins, and footwork.

High School - Winter 2026

Intro to Figure Skating is a beginner-friendly class where skaters, ages 13-18, can learn core skating skills in a safe and encouraging environment. NOTE: The high school class is intended for skaters ages 13-18.

Age Cutoff: Birthdates between January 2, 2006, and January 1, 2012.
